How to get CertifiedIFTA offers a variety of ways to become a certified fitness instructor.
Below are the ways in which to do so. |
On-Site: All certifications are set up as one-day intensives. For
any certification it is recommended that you register, pay, and receive your materials at least 2
weeks in advance. This gives you the opportunity to study your material prior to attending
the certification. Typically, on the day of the event, you will have lecture (covering the study
guide/manual and material on the exam), "hands-on" training (practical movement), as well as a
written & practical exam. For the Personal Trainer and Group Fitness certifications you are
required to show current proof of CPR or ISR, there is a 3 month grace period if you do not show
proof on the day of your certification. It takes 4-6 weeks to get your results.
On-Site "Challenge Course": These certifications are set up as a shortened version of
the full day intensive. Typically these "Challenge Courses" do not provide any lecture,
only "hands-on" training and the written and practical examinations. Again, it is pertinent
to register, pay, and receive your materials at least 2 weeks in advance. It takes 4-6 weeks
to get your results.
Correspondence: We offer the Personal Trainer, Group Fitness, Senior Fitness, Youth Fitness,
Aqua, and Kickbox certifications through correspondence. Once you register and payment is
received, IFTA sends out your materials. At this point, you will have 30 days to complete the
study guide and mail it back completed. Once your completed study guide is received, it is
reviewed, and the test is mailed out. You will then have 30 days to complete the test (written
exam and practical-essay exam) and mail that back in completed. It takes 4-6 weeks to get
your results. Current proof of CPR or ISR is required for the Personal Trainer and Group Fitness
certifications. There is a 3 month grace period to show proof once your test is received.
*Kickbox Certification Correspondence: Your material is shipped to you once payment is received.
You then have 30 days to review the manual, video, and complete the written & practical
exams. It takes 4-6 weeks to get your results.
You may register on-line, over the phone, or through the mail. We accept all major credit
cards, checks, and money orders. If registering through the mail, please be sure to include
your name, shipping address, telephone number, specify which certification you are taking, and include
shipping costs (you can contact the office to get this information).
Textbooks and study guides are two different things. The study guide is included in
the cost of the course, the textbook is additional + S/H. The study guide tells you what
to study from the text to prepare you for the written exam. |
